Saltamontes

One of our most treasured vineyards, Finca Saltamontes spans just 2.7 hectares and was officially registered in 1863, though we suspect its origins are even older.

With over a century and a half of history, this rare and extraordinary vineyard stands as a witness to the evolution and tradition of winemaking in the region.

OUR UNIQUE VARIETY

In the heart of this land, we cultivate Verdejo grapes, but among these ancient vines, we discovered a new variety that we named Cenicienta, inspired by the ashen tone of its velvety leaf undersides.

This red grape—now grown across 10 hectares—is one of a kind, adding character and a distinct personality to our wines.

Forgotten varieties

For more than 20 years, we have been working with rare and nearly extinct grape varieties, crafting wines that offer a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Some of these grapes have official names, while others remain unregistered, waiting to be recognized. This passion for exploration and restoration is one of our greatest driving forces.

Over the years, we have studied and tested over 20 varieties, discarding some but successfully reviving others. Unique wines such as Malcorta, Bruñal, and, most recently, Cenicienta are the result of this dedication. Each variety contributes its own unique identity, reflecting our tireless work and deep knowledge of viticulture.

Looking to the future

The future of our winery is filled with new opportunities as we continue to research and experiment with varieties that will adapt to market trends and climate change. In the coming years, new wines will emerge from grapevines currently under study.

Some of the varieties we are exploring today include Castellana Blanca, Verdejo Negro, and Prieto Picudo Blanca, among others. Each one has the potential to bring something unique to our collection, and we remain committed to innovation with the utmost respect for nature and tradition.
